Department of Design and Construction Director appointed as Ambassador of the Army Reserve of the Pacific

HONOLULU -- The Director for the City's Department of Design and Construction, Alex Kozlov, a retired Brigadier General, will be serving as the next U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Hawai‘i. Kozlov has over 30 years of military experience and was the former Commanding General of the 9th Mission Support Command from 2007-2010.

"I'd like to send my warmest thanks to the Army Reserve soldiers and their families for their many remarkable contributions to the City and County of Honolulu, and for their sacrifices, as most of the Soldiers from O‘ahu have deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and throughout the Middle East," said Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. "Director Kozlov's distinguished career in the Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Brigadier General, is a testament to his passion at nurturing Hawai‘i's close relationship with our military ‘ohana. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with the Army Reserve of the Pacific as we explore ways to fortify economic activity generated by the military and promote interconnectivity in the way we protect our island home. "

"I'm excited to announce that Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Alex Kozlov, a long time Hawaii resident and former Commander of the 9th Mission Support Command, has been selected by the Chief of the Army Reserve, Lt. Gen. Jody Daniels, to serve as her Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Hawaii," said Brigadier General Timothy Connelly, Commanding General of the 9th Mission Support Command. "We are humbled and excited to have someone of Brig. Gen. Kozlov's experience and connection to the community to serve as an Army Reserve Ambassador and represent the Pacific Army Reserve Ohana in support of our Soldiers everywhere."

The Army Reserve of the Pacific, the 9th Mission Support Command, is a vital and major contributor to the stability of the Pacific Rim and the promotion of American values through engagement with governments and militaries in the region. The unit, with thousands of Soldiers on O‘ahu, Maui, Hawai‘i Island, Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Korea, Japan, and Alaska has vital responsibilities with the U.S. Army Pacific and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.

Director Kozlov continues to volunteer for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an organization that, through advocacy and engagement, makes a direct, positive impact on the relationships between reserve component Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines and their civilian employers.
