• City Moving Moped, Bicycle And Business Licensing Services

HONOLULU – Moped and bicycle owners across O‘ahu will soon be able to get their registrations on the spot at the Kapālama Driver Licensing Center.

Similar walk-in service is also coming to Kapālama Driver Licensing Center for a variety of pawnbrokers, firearm dealers, peddlers and other businesses trying to get licenses to legally operate in the City and County of Honolulu.

Starting Monday, July 18, 2022, these services will move to windows 16 and 17 at the Kapālama Driver Licensing Center at 925 Dillingham Blvd in Kalihi from an office trailer under the H-1 freeway at 1112 Kapahulu Ave.

The decision to relocate the city’s Moped, Bicycle and Business License Office from Kapahulu is primarily driven by efforts to better meet public demand for these three services, which all together exceeded 30,000 transactions in the past 12 months.

This demand includes a record number of moped registrations on O‘ahu, where that total exceeded 8,800 in the past 12 months.

“We have outgrown our Kapahulu office and will be moving to better accommodate our expansion needs as well as to position us to meet continued public demand into the future to register mopeds, bicycles and businesses,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services.

Appointments will not be required for moped, bicycle and business licensing services at the Kapālama Driver Licensing Center, where moped and bicycle registrations will be issued over the counter, unless it is a dealer drop off. Business licenses will be mailed to the applicant.
